I went to Dave’s dad’s house and got to look around for the first time. I noticed the sticker on the window and thought it was a bit lengthy for such a simple instruction.

54/365 – Funny face
Whenever I’m around places I always try to look at things a little bit differently to keep myself entertained.
This is the back of a seat on the train. I cannot look at it without seeing a very surprised character. 🙂
53/365 – Strawberries and chocolate!
It was pancake day, so Lizz and I went over to visit our neighbour for pancakes and fondue.
Can’t beat strawberries dipped in chocolate.
52/365 – Barge smoke
When I was walking to the shop this barge was kicking out a huge amount of smoke. Most of it had blown away by the time I got my phone out of my pocket and into camera mode.
51/365 – Ross Noble
Lizz, Gordon, Jeanette and I went to see Ross Noble. This is how close we were to the stage!
50/365 – Lola’s ear
I find it quite fun to fold over Lola’s ears because it makes her look very funny.
Unfortunately one had gone back by the time I took the picture.
49/365 – Weird looking socket
The train was a bit different to the ones I usually catch. It had a charger on the table that looks a bit like a mushroom.
I had taken no other pictures, so I thought this one would do. 🙂
Couple of days left
There are only a couple of days left this month, and I’m quite proud of myself.
I spent £3 on that bus ride, £3.98 on cider for Katy’s birthday party, and the other day I spent £10.90 on drinks for everyone at the Ross Noble show. Everyone had bought me a drink, and Gordon is the only reason I’d been able to get the tickets in the first place, so I figure spending a little bit of money on drinks isn’t the end of the world.
Obviously there’s still a chance I could spend a bit more in the remaining days, and in fact I think I probably will.
I’ve gone over the £1500 mark in my overdraft, unfortunately, but I can probably get back to below it before the end of the month. I forgot I had $125 in my US bank account, so I’ve set off a transfer of $100 to myself. By the time the money has been converted into GBP and a fee has been taken I’ll get around £64. I also have £14 in my Paypal account, with another 3 items on eBay at £15 each with 6 watchers.
By the time all of that is sorted I will have been paid anyway, but it all still counts. 🙂
I really think I’ve done pretty well this month.
I’ll give myself a bit more breathing room next month.
Obama NY Times comic
A political cartoonist for the New York Times made a comic depicting some police having shot a chimp (as actually happened in the news this week) saying “they’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill”.
Everyone seems to be going on and on about how comparing Obama to a monkey is racist and blah blah blah. Ridiculous. Yes, back in the past black people were compared to monkeys by racist morons, but not really so much any more.
If the comic was referencing something George Bush had done then the logical conclusion would be that they were making a joke about George Bush being like a monkey, but not anything to do with his race. The fact that it’s Obama, and at some point in the past black people were compared to monkeys, doesn’t make this any more or less racist.
Surely the implied joke is that a monkey could have written the economic stimulus package (not that I agree with that), not that (revelation time here) Obama is black, and so are monkeys, among a huge list of other things.
People are finding references where they don’t really belong. The fact that the monkey has been shot, and presidents have been assassinated before is just one of the stretches people are writing about to garner attention from an otherwise unimportant, uninteresting non-event caused by a world gone politically-correct-mad! Just because something can be construed in one way does not mean it should be, or was intended to be. Grow up, get a clue.
48/365 – Plant
As quickly as my plant grew so it has died.
It’s looking pretty messy on my desk, I think I’ll go throw it away. What shall I do with the pot and the soil though? Plant something else? The office isn’t a good environment for desk plants, I think.
