Hooray for my phone

I’ve been playing with my phone all day 😀

I can access the pictures easily from Linux, so that’s a relief. I decided to post a couple of the best ones. The first one is me after the toothpaste fight the other night. It was taken by Craig on his phone.

Me with toothpaste on my face and silly hair

This second one is me in Marks and Spencer at the MacArthur Glen designer outlet store. JonP and I went there with his dad and we had lots of fun discussing the ties, shirts, t-shirts, hats, swimming shorts, and racing stripes there. It was much more fun than it probably should be 🙂 This picture was taken by JonP.
Me wearing a hat, a tie, a jacket, and a t-shirt

So yeah, fun stuff.

New phone

I have my new phone 😀 😀 😀 😀 It’s a Sony Ericsson K750i. It rocks your fricking socks off, without you even seeing it. It has a 2 megapixel camera. FM radio with RDS, 3D games, MP3 playabilityness, and a bunch of other cool stuff.

My new phone number is pretty excellent too 🙂 Pretty simple to remember. 077 044 19822, I don’t care if you have it, I turn it off when I’m supposed to. I can deal with a few random messages every now and again, and I have no problem with people calling me 🙂

I realised, when I got home and emptied my pockets, that I’d completely forgotten to drop off my hour sheet at Ambitions 🙁 I’ll have to go down town again tomorrow and drop it through the door. Ah well. I got the important thing done 😀

Had a packed evening

JonP came over and we watched Family Guy and ate pizza and various cream-filled pastries. It was very nice.

Just as JonP was leaving David called me and told me I should go to Craig’s house. JonP said he’d give me a lift, so I asked where David was and JonP dropped me off there. Unfortunately for me David and Stacey had already left there, so I just ran around to Craig’s house by myself. I actually beat them there.

They ordered food and then Craig and David went to Jackson’s to get some coca cola.

After a while the topic turned to doing stuff to people while they’re asleep, practical jokes and such. I mentioned that toothpaste really burns when applied to the eyelids. I then suggested putting some on Stacey’s eyelids. I went upstairs to get the toothpaste and when I cam downstairs I was ambushed by David and Craig and a wild toothpaste fight ensued. Everyone got some toothpaste on them somewhere, but I was definitely the most covered. Craig also managed to get me right in the eye with a lot of toothpaste, and I spent the next few minutes over his kitchen sink washing it off my face and out of my hair. Craig has a picture somewhere which I hope he will keep until at least tomorrow when I should get my new phone so I can upload the picture here.

Julie called me so I spoke to her for a little while with everyone around me watching me the whole time for some reason. Stacey made little comments on how I spoke monosyllabically. Suck on that then you bitch! 😛

After that we didn’t really do a whole lot, just kinda sat around talking, and then we all left for our homes. Roll on tomorrow. I should be meeting my dad in less than 8 hours so I can go mix concrete for him before I meet JonP and go into town to buy the phone. No doubt they won’t have the fucking phone and I’ll be pissed off.

Oh well, we’ll see. Good night.

I like my job

It may be repetetive and stuff, but I kind of like it. Or at least the fact that it’s not manual labour, and I’m not serving fast food to 13 year olds in the middle of town at 10pm on a sunday 🙂

I actually answered a phone call today, nothing too major you’d think, but now I’m much happier there. I’m not as much of an exception to everything. I also made a bunch of calls, which was fun. I got to speak to people all over the place. From London, to Scotland, to Ireland. It’s fun.

I think the lack of a shirt and tie helps a lot too. Much more relaxed atmosphere.

So yeah, that’s cool, now onto the Friday Five.

1. How many weddings have you attended?

5. My auntie Paula (I was the paige boy), next door neighbour (paige boy again), auntie Lesley, my mum and stepdad, one of Laura’s teachers.

2. Wedding registries: buy from the list or freestyle it?

Uhhh, whatever.

3. Are you more likely to slow dance or participate in the chicken dance?

Neither. At a push I’ll slow dance.

4. The garter find/toss experience: cute or tacky?

Cute. Also potential for some actual entertainment. Catfight or some such thing.

5. If you could marry someone famous, who would it be?

OMG LYK TOTULLY BRAD PITT!!!11111onehundredandeleven

Another day down

I’m still alive, barely. I have a headache, and have had one for most of the day now. Oh well, work was alright. Gradually learning some more stuff. I discovered that fridays are casual dress days, so I get to be comfortable tomorrow 😀

My mum dropped me off and picked me up because it was raining all fricking day. She handed a postcard to me when I got in the car. It was sent by flevour who is from Italy, but on vacation in Spain. He used some kind of substitution cipher on the text so I haven’t actually managed to read it yet. If my head didn’t hurt I would have made more progress. I’m pretty sure it starts with the word “I.” 🙁

Basically I can’t be bothered to do much right now, and I’m seriously contemplating going to bed, even if only for an hour or so. Blah, probably better off just staying up and then sleeping at a normal time.

First day in my new job

It went well 🙂 Hooray!

I got there on time, clean shaven, smartly dressed. I remembered the name of the person I was supposed to meet there, and everything went superbly. The work is fairly repetetive, and relates to car insurance. I work for a company who send out engineers to assess the damage done to cars for several insurance companies, including esure with the annoying mouse 🙁

My duties consist mostly of filing stuff, and updating records in a call managing type program. Pretty simple stuff so far. I’m sure it’ll get more complicated when I’m able to answer the phone and deal with customers, but I’m happy for now 😉

Ok, so, down to my predictions.

I don’t know of anyone named Martin, Sarah, or Mike yet, but I haven’t met everyone.
Funnily enough though, I actually do vaguely know one person who works there. He went to college with David and me for the Advanced Computer Graphics course. Even more amazing is that I know another person who works there really well. Well enough to have seen her since I got back to England in fact. My cousin’s cousin works there. 😀 My mum’s brother’s wife’s sister’s daughter, Sarah.
I’m not the youngest person there. Sarah is younger than me, and possibly a few other people.
My accent was hinted at in the first couple of hours, and Sarah (from Ambitions, not my cousin’s cousin) mentioned it outright after about 4 hours.
I don’t really dislike anyone there yet. I have a good idea who I will dislike given time though 🙂
There are a couple of good looking girls there, but meh, nothing special.
It seems I am the only person who does not use some sort of motor vehicle to get to work, although I did get a lift there and back today, which is why I skipped my prediction about walking there and back.
I skipped both of my 10 minute breaks, and 40 minutes of my lunch, as I expected. There’s not really anywhere I can be bothered to walk to. The cob van comes around pretty fricking early as well, but I guess I’ll make use of it soon.

So yeah, that’s about it 🙂 A good first day. I just wish they had more comfortable chairs, and I wish the computer I use didn’t have Windows 98 on it. I don’t think they have a broadband internet connection either, oh well.

Edit: 22:38
Julie just pointed out to me that there is someone there called Sarah, in fact it’s the only person there I really know. I’m an idiot. o_O

Thanks to Julie for pointing out the obvious mistake, she gets the gold star. You other people should be ashamed of yourselves.

Another post?

Yeah, lots of posts in the last 24 hours, oh well, I feel like posting again.

I start work in 8 hours and 4 minutes, I just got home. I have to sleep, wake, shower, shave, and get there in the next 8 hours, and here I am typing stuff on my website 😀

I got a couple of messages from Jo while I was out waiting for Craig’s train to arrive. It seems that the coach she was on got robbed. The driver’s passport and stuff got stolen, which is pretty weird. Highway robbery 🙂

We watched Assault On Precinct 13. It’s a fairly good movie. A nice no-brainer to just watch. It was cool to sit around together, I don’t know how much more it’ll happen if we’re all working and stuff. I guess it’ll still happen a fair amount, it always used to 🙂

Right, well, I’m going to go to bed now, hopefully I’ll wake up in time for work. My first working day since May 15th 2003. Should be fun.

I’d also just like to say thanks to everyone who wished me luck, and I’d also like to point out that nobody I’ve met today has said congratulations. Not my mum, my dad, their significant others. Nobody. Oh well. 😛 You can look forward to what could be an entertaining post when I return. Probably full of me making a fool of myself and being laughed at, or ranting about the idiocy.

Good night 🙂

Job predictions

I’ve been up and taken a look at where I’ll be working as of tomorrow. I’ve decided to make a few predictions about the job and other associated stuff. I will now list them here and see how many come true 🙂

  • I will be sick of travelling there and back every day within a short amount of time. Probably a week. Quite possibly because I will get blisters on my feet.
  • There will be a mix up with my money and I’ll post about it a bunch of times complaining how unfair it is.
  • There will be someone called Martin, Sarah, or Mike working there. Possibly someone there will look exactly like someone from another job/school/etc. Possibly there will be someone I vaguely know working there.
  • I’ll be the youngest person there.
  • Someone will mention my accent within 2 hours of arriving.
  • I’ll find something to dislike about most of the people there within the first week.
  • There won’t be any good looking girls there 🙂
  • I’ll be the only person who doesn’t drive, or take a bus there.
  • I won’t bother, or won’t get a chance to take my breaks. Even if I do I’ll complain that there’s nowhere near enough to walk to.
  • I will go back on one of these predictions at some point in the future. e.g. “Bill didn’t really look much like Jeff.” Or “Jane was fairly good looking.”

Should be fun. I threw in a couple of short term predictions just so I’d have something to report tomorrow 🙂

Definite job

I can’t be bothered to edit my other post about jobs, so I’m just making another new one already.

I got a call from the job agency a few minutes ago and I start tomorrow morning at 09:30. I will normally start at 09:00 until 17:30. I’ll have to wear a shirt and tie, of course. I didn’t ask how much I’ll be paid, which is kinda silly of me, but no doubt I’ll find out tomorrow. I did find that it’s a temporary-to-permanent position, meaning after 12 weeks if they’re happy enough with me then they’ll hire me on a permanent basis. I don’t really expect that to happen, to be honest, but I’m not going to say no 🙂

So yeah, my last day of freedom 🙁 I’m going to waste it as best as I can. 😀

Lost In Translation owl

Oh my god!

JULIE FOUND THE TOY FROM LOST IN TRANSLATION!!!!!!1111onehundredandeleven

It’s been 62 weeks and 4 days since I added that to my To-Do list, but finally it looks like I’ll be getting one. Amazingly enough she found them in the shop opposite where she works. 😀

Yipeeeeeee!
