It went well 🙂 Hooray!
I got there on time, clean shaven, smartly dressed. I remembered the name of the person I was supposed to meet there, and everything went superbly. The work is fairly repetetive, and relates to car insurance. I work for a company who send out engineers to assess the damage done to cars for several insurance companies, including esure with the annoying mouse 🙁
My duties consist mostly of filing stuff, and updating records in a call managing type program. Pretty simple stuff so far. I’m sure it’ll get more complicated when I’m able to answer the phone and deal with customers, but I’m happy for now 😉
Ok, so, down to my predictions.
I don’t know of anyone named Martin, Sarah, or Mike yet, but I haven’t met everyone.
Funnily enough though, I actually do vaguely know one person who works there. He went to college with David and me for the Advanced Computer Graphics course. Even more amazing is that I know another person who works there really well. Well enough to have seen her since I got back to England in fact. My cousin’s cousin works there. 😀 My mum’s brother’s wife’s sister’s daughter, Sarah.
I’m not the youngest person there. Sarah is younger than me, and possibly a few other people.
My accent was hinted at in the first couple of hours, and Sarah (from Ambitions, not my cousin’s cousin) mentioned it outright after about 4 hours.
I don’t really dislike anyone there yet. I have a good idea who I will dislike given time though 🙂
There are a couple of good looking girls there, but meh, nothing special.
It seems I am the only person who does not use some sort of motor vehicle to get to work, although I did get a lift there and back today, which is why I skipped my prediction about walking there and back.
I skipped both of my 10 minute breaks, and 40 minutes of my lunch, as I expected. There’s not really anywhere I can be bothered to walk to. The cob van comes around pretty fricking early as well, but I guess I’ll make use of it soon.
So yeah, that’s about it 🙂 A good first day. I just wish they had more comfortable chairs, and I wish the computer I use didn’t have Windows 98 on it. I don’t think they have a broadband internet connection either, oh well.
Edit: 22:38
Julie just pointed out to me that there is someone there called Sarah, in fact it’s the only person there I really know. I’m an idiot. o_O
Thanks to Julie for pointing out the obvious mistake, she gets the gold star. You other people should be ashamed of yourselves.
