Hallowe’en Pumpkins

I went to Dave’s house last night to carve the pumpkins we bought over the weekend. It’s only the second time I’ve ever done it.

Dave’s came out really well (his carving is on the left, although I think the thing on the right is scarier)

[Dave’s Cold pumpkin]

I was at a loss for inspiration so I decided to cut out a regular face. I was going to put a pile of the pumpkin’s innards in front of the mouth, but I didn’t.

[My pumpkin]

After the pumpkins we watched a TV show called The Perfect Scary Movie which basically ran down the common elements in most types of scary movie. It was cool to see all the clips and stuff.

I got home at something like 2am and I’m at work already. πŸ™ Dave just told me that he’s just woken up. Lucky bastard person.

UFO Balloons

The other day I built a UFO Balloon as can be seen in this video.

It didn’t go very well because it was ridiculously windy when I tried to launch it.

Yesterday I met Dave and we bought pumpkins and stuff and then came back to my house and launched another one that I’d made earlier in the day. It went really damn well. We had to run to the other side of the house to watch it fly literally miles away. It was awesome.

We packed up all the parts and went to Dave’s house to launch some more.

Dave’s was launched first and it was going pretty well. Mine was lit a few seconds later and was causing trouble by not flying higher than the washing line. Eventually Dave got it to go up a bit more. It went a few feet and then got tangled on the next-door neighbour’s washing line. Dave ran around there to untangle the flaming mass.

We built another one and it went quite well for the first few seconds and then dived swiftly to the top of a shed a couple of houses away. Dave and I ran over to have a look, still filming, and then decided the prudent course of action was to LEGGIT and hide in his house.

After a minute or two Dave went and climbed into the garden (nobody was in the house) and stamped the flames out. I’m glad it’d been raining recently (since June).

There’s a fairly black video of the whole thing that I’ll post as soon as Dave gets it uploaded and tells me where. It’s worth watching just for the commentary πŸ˜€

So yeah, that was the last one we tried out. Fun stuff.

Borat

I’d like to thank my co-worker, James for pointing me in the direction of this BBC article about Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen). Go give it a read, and then book your tickets for the movie.

I heard that at the Premier in America he showed up on a wooden cart, seating himself with a donkey while women were pulling it along. Genius, relly.

Turkish Delight

I went over to Dave’s house when he got back from work and we both hung out playing on Burnout eating Turkish Delight. We both ate 25 pieces. It was easy enough to get to about 10 or so, but from there on out it got more and more difficult to keep chewing.

I haven’t felt so ill from food since the time Craig and I chugged a bottle golden syrup πŸ™‚

Oh well, I think tonight calls for a meat feast pizza. Yum yum.

Firefox 2

I’m using Firefox 2 at the moment and it’s pretty cool πŸ™‚

I’m testing the spelling checker thing that’s built in. Surprisingly “Firefox” is not included in the list of words, and it’s not skipped even though it’s capitalised (proper noun). Oh well.

I can’t wait for my themes and extensions to be available again. They should really have made them work before Firefox 2 was released… Oh well.

It’s good. Upgrade.

Quiz, T-shirts

I’m intoxicated right now and I have to be up for work in less than 6 hours, but I just felt the need to say that I’d sold another T-shirt on Cafepress a couple of days ago.

I didn’t only want to post about that though, so I sneakily put the quiz in the topic before it even though I intended to write about the T-shirts first. Then I decided to tell everyone my cunning plan.

Anyway, Dave and I did fairly well at the quiz. In fact, for the first three rounds we totally owned it all over the place. Towards the end we got worse and worse ending with two 60%ers and a 0%er thanks to the help of some old guy. I wish we’d held out for a couple more rounds and got the 4 points Dave would have got rather than rushing for the 10 and getting 0. Oh well, live and learn.

I’m quite impressed by some of the ones we did get. I think we’d get even more if either of us spent a bit of time in the week listening to national radio for about 5 minutes until the next news beat came on. I’ll try to read more local news during the week. Hopefully next weekend we can both get our dads to come along and victory shall be ours, so long as I can get my mum to stay away.

We ended up with 38 out of 60, which is not a lot better than what we got last week. 26 of those points were in the first 3 rounds :\ Oh well, we’re getting better. No cheating this time, just some friendly help/discussion from some people. We’ll crack it soon, then we’ll get something. I don’t know what the prizes are. I go for the laugh πŸ™‚

It’s so shit that everyone cheats on their wap nowadays. I bet we beat everyone else who didn’t cheat easily. There’s no way anyone could’ve got 48 points on that quiz without some major google action.

All they had to do was get the same answers as us, write down the two answers we got right, but skipped, and get Kenny Rogers for 8 points…

Not overly difficult. Oh well… Next time I think we’ll do better still.

Posted by Dave
All they had to do was get the same answers as us and Not overly difficult don’t really go together because to be fair we were kicking ass and taking names on all but the Kenny Rogers round.

Posted by Stu
I suppose so… There were still a few too many that we got wrong for my liking. I still would never guess “economical with the truth” or whatever the hell that HEOYF one was…

Massachusetts and The Sharp End are the ones that bother me most. We skipped them in a rush to put down John Lennon, and it was wrong. We lost the 4 points you would have got for Kenny Rogers, and we lost the two points we would have got with a bit more time (had we remembered). Dammit!

Weekend of nothing

Pretty much all weekend all I’ve done is watch TV episodes and movies on my computer. It’s been a bit boring at times, but mostly entertaining. Sometimes I think it’d be good to go somewhere, but that usually involves spending money. I’m trying to save as much money as I can so I guess I’ll be spending all my time in my room, alone. Blah.

Any drawing skill I once had has now disappeared. I can’t draw anything πŸ™

[Chavsfield]

Oh well though, practice makes perfect.

Invisibility, IE7 security issues already

British and American scienticians have come up with an invisibility cloak! I’ve linked you to The Guardian website because I originally read it on Fox News, so I was a bit dubious.

They say that in a few years they’ll be able to effectively cloak cars. They developed this small shield from microwaves only 5 months after proving it’s theoretically possible within the laws of physics… I bet we never see cloaked cars though. It’ll be grabbed by the military and said to be vital to homeland/national security.

Yesterday I was predicting having a problem in IE7 to fix today. Middle of the Google News page I see this: Flaw found in new Microsoft browser

I was correct. One day. Well done Microsoft.

Also, I like the advertisement on that last website that says to “enjoy your life for a low annual fee” like it’s some sort of favour to you that you should be allowed to live and only pay a small amount each year for the privilege.

Enjoy your life for a low annual fee

Woo.. Completely undetectable nuclear missiles..
Fun stuff.

Yup… No idea who launched them or anything. We could quickly take out all of Iraq/Iran/etc. Although they might be suspicious that we had a mass troop withdrawal the day before πŸ™‚

Actually, they won’t be suspicious. They won’t be breathing.

I might have to kidnap one of those scientists and force him to work in my high-tech lab producing weapons of mass destruction for me.

I’m sick of getting comments about viagra on my older posts.

Good, now I’ve fixed that…

“We could quickly take out all of Iraq/Iran/etc”

“We?” Sorry, dude, I’m busy this weekend…

I can do it myself if I’m invisible…

Random! spam comments dude? Bummer.. I used to get them!

I installed some plugins that fucked them right off! πŸ™‚

Posted by Stu
Yeah, annoying spam comments. I got rid of over 50% of them… Still some others to weed out though. A downside to writing your own website I guess… No modules.

More drawings

I drew Hamilton with my mouse tablet thing and did some shading… I think I’m steadily getting better.
