The Mystery Jets

After work I got changed and went for a quick bite to eat at The Rushley with the Emmas, Sue (Emma J’s girlfriend), and Marc.

I caught the bus from over the road and went to Notts to meet Gordon, Vlad, and Andy (tutors from college) in The Social. I got there early, so I’d had a couple by the time they’d turned up. After a little bit of conversation (and perving on the 19-year-old barmaid) I discovered that Vlad likes Manu Chao. He’s one of only two people I know of who knew of Manu Chao, other than the person who introduced me to the music, and the people who were with me at the time (Laura’s cousin Hannah, Laura, and Laura’s mom). That was cool. Weird that I’ve worked in the same place as Vlad for over a year and we only just discovered that we know of the same music. πŸ˜€

There was a random girl who lives in Mansfield Woodhouse there who kept talking to us all. I don’t remember her name, if we asked for it at all. She was quite flirtatious. o_O

We went upstairs to watch The Mystery Jets. While up there I bumped into Ange who I used to work with at Capital One. That was cool. We had a bit of a chat and decided to try to arrange a proper night out in three weeks or so. Should be good. The Mystery Jets were really good. At some point during the whole thing I ended up chatting to two girls named Rachel and Katie. One of them was from Manchester, or studying there or something. They were cool to talk to for some of the night.

After the gig I was heading off to Rock City to meet up with Emmas, Sue, Paul, Harley, Punk Dave, etc. I was ahead of them, so I went in on my own. After a few minutes I got a message from Paul saying they couldn’t get in because a couple of them were dressed too extreme for Rock City. Mostly because it was Love Shack, where they play a bunch of older songs from last decade. I was trying to make my mind up about whether I should go to The Rig with them or not when I bumped into Will from Capital One. We had a bit of a chat and then he said I could hang out with him and his friends, so I did.

Most of the time in City was spent following Will and his friends around the club looking for sexy single girls. πŸ™‚ There were a couple of girls dressed as nurses, a couple dressed as cowgirls, and a bunch of other clichΓ©s besides.

While we were walking around one girl was looking at me as I was looking around. She smiled when I looked at her, and there began a bunch of sideways glances for a while. It took a while but I eventually went over to start dancing with her just in time for some other guy to get directly between us and start dancing. I turned back to go find Will. I gave one final look and she held her hands out for mine and we started dancing. πŸ™‚ It’s good when things work out well.

Turns out her name’s Rebecca. I don’t know a great deal about her at the moment. She has nice eyes, she’s smaller than me, she’s a good dancer, and a good kisser. πŸ˜€

I had to leave after a while because we were supposed to catch the last bus at 3am. We didn’t stand a chance of making it so we ended up waiting for taxis instead. Emma Carroll asked me where all the glitter on my face came from. 😑

Marc and I got out of the taxi on Nottingham Road so we could go to the ESSO garage. I bought some orange juice and then walked home by myself because Marc lives in the other direction.

It was a really really good night. I want more nights like that! πŸ™‚

Carly’s birthday

Yesterday was my sister’s birthday. She picked me up from work at lunch and we met my dad and Kay at Pizza Hut. It was nice. We all had the buffet thing, so we had an awesome selection. I went back to work afterwards, then came home in time to get ready and go for another meal with Carly at The Dog and Duck. Mum came along and we met everyone there. I saw Anna (cousin) and David (her boyfriend), Carly and Rob, Dave and Jackie (aunt and uncle), Les and Roger (another aunt and uncle), Jen (friend of Auntie Les), and a bunch of people I don’t really know. One of whom was a 6-year-old wearing a Liverpool shirt with Riise on the back. He plays for Manor 4th or something like that. It was another really nice meal.

I should be playing football at Brunts with uncle Dave on Tuesday. Adam’s going to come along too, with any luck. Should be cool. Maybe I’ll even be able to talk Dave into coming along…

I changed Plains Stupidity around completely over the last few days. I have a couple of new comics queued up for the 11th and 12th of July. Keep your eyes open. πŸ™‚ I also sold another hippotism T-shirt. πŸ˜€ I’ve created some T-shirts for HipHop-opotamus too.

Poker night with Dave and Craig

I played poker at Dave’s house yesterday with him and Craig. It was cool to play again after so long.

I was amazed by one hand that Dave thought he’d won with a full house of kings and queens. He said “if you can beat a full house of kings and queens” and I said “yep” and showed my first _ever_ royal flush! πŸ˜€ It was awesome. I took a picture! I can’t upload the picture at the moment though because one of the sports teachers has borrowed my USB cable to charge her phone with.

We got pizza and watched some TV and played another couple of games. They were silly games though, we just bet without looking at our cards until the very end. It was kinda fun anyway though. I won all the games. o_O

I ended up getting a taxi home because it was raining and windy outside. Of course it was though, it’s only the end of June after all. Not like it’s mid-bastard-summer! I’m pretty sure it’s rained on the last 4 or 5 days in a row. We’ve had a couple of thunderstorms in the last week or two as well. It’s insane. If we don’t start having some normal summer weather soon I’m going to cry!

A somewhat frustrating night

I was out last night for Paul’s birthday and his girlfriend spent most of the night making things shit for everyone she encountered. Mike and I eventually sorted things out a bit and we managed to have a semi-decent night. Then I got frustrated again by something that I guess doesn’t even matter.

I kinda wish I had something good to do today, but I’ll probably just sit in my room on the computer.

I did go to Rother Valley yesterday, which was kinda cool. I also drove my mum’s car a little bit.

Architecture In Helsinki cancelled

I was going to go see Architecture In Helsinki at Rescue Rooms in Nottingham in September. I bought the tickets yesterday, and today the thing’s been cancelled! πŸ™ I “posted a video of theirs back in August last year”:http://essteeyou.com/?id=919, and I’m going to post another one now:

I _will_ see them, one day!

Teacher training, gym & swim

I had an interview for teacher training today. I begin my course in September and it goes on for 12 weeks, finishing just before Christmas. After that there may be a chance to progress onto the next part. It depends on getting teaching hours and stuff like that though, so it’s not very likely to happen because I’m not working towards an HNC or any sort of qualification… Unless I teach how to teach teaching… o_O

Afterwards I had a bite to eat and then met JonP and Emma to go to Water Meadows. On the way I bumped into the person I allegedly used to trip up in middle school. Turns out JonP knows him and was in the same year as him. I was only in school with JonP in first school, for one year. So yeah… He still seemed stupidly angry with me, so I ran the last little bit to Water Meadows instead of hanging around to hear his well-constructed argument.

JonP and I went in the gym and did a fairly small amount of stuff. Emma was swimming laps. When we’d finished in the gym JonP went home, but I went for a swim with Emma for a little while. Then we got some food and walked home in the rain.

I was just reading “an article”:http://www.networkworld.com/community/?q=node/16587 about Microsoft saying they release patches faster than anyone else… It’s got to be total crap, I’m sure. Even if it’s true it’s only because they’ve had a shitload more practice than anyone else!

Passed it

I scraped by the multiple choice part of my theory with 30/35 (the minimum allowable score) and did well enough on the hazard perception part with 61/75 (where 44 is a pass).

So now I’ve got two years in which to pass my practical test. πŸ˜€ If it takes any longer than that then I’ll quit forever. πŸ˜‰

Theory test

I have my driving theory test this afternoon. I’ve taken a couple of practice tests and I’m pretty fine with how they’re going. I’ve passed the last 2 or 3, and I’ve taken 5 or 6 total over the last 2 months.

Hopefully this thing will be a walk in the park. πŸ™‚

I need to try to use a sentence that I just read in “this article about Operation Arrowhead Ripper”:http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=topNews&storyid=2007-06-19T104338Z_01_COL021520_RTRUKOC_0_US-IRAQ.xml&WTmodLoc=NewsArt-R2-Today-3 (awesome operation name): “That is the number one, bottom-line, up-front, in-your-face, task and purpose.” πŸ˜€

Too good to pass up

I know it’s half 2 in the morning and I should be asleep so I can wake up in 5 hours, but first I have to post “this link”:http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSL1432171020070614.

Trust me when I say this is the funniest squirrel related news article since “that one brought down a cycling opera singer”:http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/09/05/squirrel_opera_singer/.

Enjoy. πŸ˜€
