Moved house, going to Cornwall

I’ve moved back to my mum’s house with Lizz for a couple of weeks before we go to our new house on the 12th. It’s not ideal, but it saves us quite a bit of money over stayingh at Adam’s house.

Tomorrow we’re going to Cornwall for a few days. It should be good! New Year’s Eve will be spent in fancy dress. I’m going to be dressed as a Frenchman! I’ll make sure there are pictures. 😉

Helicopter antics, out in town

I took the helicopter that Dave bought me to replace the one his dog chewed through to work yesterday. It wasn’t working correctly though, so I decided to take it apart and see if I could work out what was wrong. I couldn’t.

Before too long it reached the stage where if the power was connected then the main motor was running at full speed whether the switch was on or off. I decided it’d be fun to just put the blades back on, fully charge the battery, go outside and hook up the power and let it fly off into the distance. So at the end of work I did. Paul filmed it with a video camera and I’ll be adding the video shortly. 😀

I went out after work (at 15:00) to the Rushley with Lizz and Paul. We bumped into Vlad and a bunch of other people from college. Lizz left after one drink and I stayed with Paul because we were waiting for Emma and Marc to arrive. They finally got there at 16:30 and most college people had already left. We had a few drinks and some food. I actually got the dessert I wanted for a change! 😀

From the Rushley we went down to the Queen Victoria and met up with a bunch of people I’ve never met before who work at a different college site. It was a bit boring in there. We left soon after to go to The Black Swan. It’s much better looking inside than it used to be, but it’s still full of dumbasses, so it was a bit crap. We left from there to go to the regular Swan. It was too packed to want to stand inside so we stood outside underneath one of the heaters. Mmmm. It was under the heater that we met up with Marc’s sister Gemma. I used to go to school with her, so we spent the majority of the rest of the night talking about people from school. Who got pregnant, who got married, and in one case who got divorced, and another single case: who died. It was cool catching up with someone like that for the first time in nearly a decade.

After the Swan we went on to The Banque, and then to the Bowl In Hand before Paul gave Emma and I a lift home. It was a quite a busy evening. I made it home by 22:30 though, which was surprising. Also, my apologies to the people I was out with. I seem to have only spent £10… Thanks for all my drinks! 😀

Moving house (again)

I’ll be sorting out tenancy agreements and keys on January 12th for Lizz and my new house on Beresford Street. 🙂 The agents called to give us the news a little while ago. It should be a fairly smooth move because I’ve done it a bunch of times, and it’s not far from Lizz’s parents’ house to where we are moving.

I’ve now got to sort out getting a BT line fitted so I can get a decent Internet connection installed too. I’ve got my priorities straight. 😉

Music at work

I’m listening to BBC 6 on the reception desk at the moment. It’s nice to finally not be in silence. BBC Radio 6 is much better than most of the other BBC stations. It has convinced me to get a digital radio in my car when I eventually get a license. 🙂

I’ll be going to my course tonight. I’m hoping it’ll mostly be empty so that I can leave early. Nobody wants to be there, surely!

Tomorrow is the last day of work in 2007. I can’t believe the year’s gone by so quickly. I’ll have to come up with some things to achieve in 2008… Did I make a list for 2007? I can’t remember. I’m still in the area, so I bet I failed that one.

Lizz and I have been to look at a house on Beresford Street that we’re hopefully going to be able to rent. I don’t know how long it’ll take to sort all of that stuff out, but hopefully not long into the new year… Life is pretty good at the moment. Everyone loves Christmas.

One week left at work

There are only 5 working days left until Christmas for me. That makes me an extremely happy person! 😀

It was the work Christmas meal last night. It was quite a lot of fun, and some very nice food at The Towers in the function room. There’s another one happening next Saturday, but not with work. That should be pretty good. The Widecombe Fair has good food.

Anyway, I guess I should get going to sleep around about now. I’ve got to be up fairly early to begin the most relaxing week of term-time work there is (hopefully). 🙂

Indian food, Chicago Rock Karaoke, silly dictionary man

I went out for an Indian meal and a few drinks with Emma Carroll, Paul, Marc and some other folks last night. It was a really tasty meal. I went for chicken korma, as usual. The Chand is a nice restaurant. It’s a bit small, and quite hidden, but worth finding. 🙂

After the meal we went to Chicago Rock Cafe and I bumped into Vicki and Spikey (now Cheeky) Mike. It was cool to catch up for the first time in a few months.

Paul gave everyone a lift home and I was sure I was going to call in sick this morning. I asked Paul not to bother picking me up. When I woke up I wasn’t feeling too bad, so I changed my mind and decided to come to work. 🙁 Gosh darn I’m tired of being so good! 😉

I’ve just been reading “a news story”:http://www.reuters.com/article/internetNews/idUSN1155159520071212 about the word “w00t” and how Mirriam-Webster have named it Word Of The Year. They’ve mentioned that it’s normally spelled with zeroes instead of the letter o. I quote the following:

“People look for self-evident numeral-letter substitutions: 0 for O; 3 for E; 7 for T; and 4 for A,” [Merriam-Webster President John Morse] said. “This is simply a different and more efficient way of representing the alphabetical character.”

More efficient? How so? It’s the same number of characters. It just takes longer for some people to work out what it says. That, to me, means less efficient.

Bar de Nada, Kings Of Leon, Amici bar

I went to see Kings Of Leon on Friday with Vlad, Waqas, and Sally from college at Nottingham Ice Arena. It was really quite busy in there, but not really sold out. Manchester Orchestra were the first band, who seemed fairly mediocre. I went to get drinks with Vlad while they were playing though, so I can’t be sure they didn’t get better.

Before the gig we’d gone to a little Mexican style place called Bar de Nada in Hockley. It was really nice in there, and I’ll definitely be going back again.

After the gig we went to the Amici bar in West Bridgeford. I went there quite a while back with Ange from Capital One. It was still cool in there. 🙂

I had about 5 JDs with cola, and a beer. The most I’ve had to drink for at least 2 months!

Now I’m at work and it’s my late shift. 🙁

Flabbergasted

The Wii sold for £215 or so. I’m flabbergasted! I don’t understand why someone would bid up to £260 on another 4 or 5 that run out in the same minute, and not bid on the one at £215… I suppose the amount of feedback some other sellers have is reassuring compared to my 23, and I didn’t pay the extra £10 to get it listed prominently, but meh. I suppose I also put a bit too much faith in the ability of the general eBay buyer to search and think correctly.

Still, that’s £35 over the store price. 🙂

Now to sell the two games I’ve got.

Almost sold my Wii now

I’m less than 20 minutes away from selling the Wii on eBay now. The bidding’s reached £127.99 so far. That’s not particularly amazing, but I imagine it’ll increase greatly the closer it gets to closing time. 🙂

If it goes for anything less than £240 I’ll be flabbergasted!

Edit: 13:05
It’s at £206.59 right now. 6 and a half minutes remaining until closing time. 🙂
