I’m not going to be around for a week beginning on Thursday. I’m going away to Spain with Lizz! 😀
I’m sure I won’t miss a great deal, and I’ll have lots of interesting stories to tell when I return.
Have a good week folks. 🙂

It has taken me a few weeks, but I finally became a pro at Wii Sports baseball today. It was the only one I had left for quite a while. It’s quite a complicated game to get right. Now I know the technique it’d be easy to go further, but I can’t really be bothered.
I’m just glad to be a pro at every sport.
Now onto Mario Kart!
JonP and I went to the driving range to hit a couple of baskets of balls the other day. It was quite a lot of fun. 🙂 Chloe came over to watch a film and eat pizza with us after that while JonP went to a barbecue. We watched Juno. I was surprised by how good it was. I was expecting it to be a complete chick flick, but it was genuinely good.
JonP and Dave came over last night to play some more Wii Sports. We had a few drinks and played on the Wii for quite a while before we got a bit tired of it. We watched The Big Lebowski, but Lizz went to bed a bit early. JonP and Dave got a taxi home and I stayed up watching 10,000BC, which is not a very good film.
Later on we’re supposed to be going to Boston Burger Co. to watch a band featuring a guy that JonP knows. That’ll hopefully be a good night. 🙂
I took the day off work yesterday and decided to go into Nottingham. I hung around on the square for a few hours just watching people and things happen. It’s quite fun to people-watch. I saw a man get arrested, but I don’t know what for. A police car came screaming down the main road beside the square at one point too. Very exciting. If I drove a police car I’d make sure that the city centre was on my way to wherever I was going so I could do that. 🙂
I met up with Stacey and then Len at about 4 when I was deciding whether or not to go back home. So I decided not to. We went to The Social for a few drinks, then JonP and Leanne came along to join us there, separately. 🙂 After a few more drinks Lizz came down too. Leanne left while I was going to meet Lizz.
After a few more drinks in The Social we headed to Speak Easy at JonP’s behest. It was a good choice because people picke dlots of songs on the jukebox and stuff. Lizz’s ex-boyfriend came in with a bunch of his friends at one point. some of them spoke to Lizz and some of them didn’t… That’s just the way it is when you split up with someone though. People have loyalties they feel they have to demonstrate.
I was quite rude to one of the guys who was talking to Lizz for about half an hour without either of them introducing me. As he stood up to leave he said bye to Lizz then held his hand out for me to shake and said “nice to meet you” to which I replied “nice to not meet you whatsoever.” It was a little bit childish, I admit. It was just because we hadn’t actually been introduced at all and he’d been chatting to Lizz less than 3 feet away for ages. Meh. I sent him a message on Facebook last night to let him know I didn’t mean anything by it. 🙂
The problem with having an online solicitor who is miles away from you is that you have to do everything by mail.
They asked for some proof of identity from us. This meant that we had to photocopy our passports and some bank statements and then go to our bank to get them verified and signed before we could send them off.
They should arrive at the solicitors tomorrow, then they can call us to get our debit card details so they can charge us a huge sum of money. 🙁
At least everything’s going pretty well so far, anyway. 🙂
Lizz, JonP, Dave, and I went to play golf yesterday at Mansfield Golf Club. We bought 6 buckets of balls between us. That’s around 480 balls. I managed to hit one to the end of the driving range at around 200 yards. I was very impressed. Lizz started off surprisingly well for someone who’s never played before. I think she really enjoyed it. Dave started off pretty badly, but got better. JonP was good the whole way through. 🙂
We had a little cmopetition for accuracy rather than distance. I was the first one to hit the ball into the basket on the range. Dave managed to hit the 50 yard marker, but that was totally by accident. 🙂
Lizz has been complaining about aching arms and legs all day. I haven’t got any blisters, and my hands don’t actually even feel that bad. I’m quite pleased.
We went to the quiz after we’d had some lunch and played on the Wii. We got a much more respectable score of 38 this time. It helped having Lizz’s parents there. Well, right up until the final question, anyway.
Jane flipping Fonda!
I called about a thousand solicitors yesterday to arrange the conveyancing of the new house. After all of that I ended up organising it online with SelectConveyancing telling me that Nigel Broadhead Mynard being the cheapest solicitor for what we needed. Strangely if I called the same solicitor and got a quote over the phone it was a couple of hundred pounds more expensive. I went with the online quote.
After that I called the bank to tell them the details of the solicitor, and then I did the same with the estate agent.
Now we’re pretty much just waiting for all of those guys to do their bits and get together.
The whole thing has added an extra 2 grand to the mortgage and we’ve paid just around another £1000 in various fees. Buying a house isn’t cheap even if the house itself is.
I just got a call from the estate agents telling me that the offer of £82.5k has now been accepted for real. 🙂
I knew it’d happen eventually, I just thought Lizz would force us to pay more because she’s so impatient. Luckily that’s not been the case and we’ve saved paying quite a bit more money that way.
We’re going to Natwest this afternoon to sort out the mortgage and we’ve got to call the estate agent when that’s all done. Then they’ll put up a big SOLD sign outside the house. 🙂
So yeah, we’re well on the way to owning the house now!
It’s my dad’s birthday today. Lizz, Kay, Carly, Rob, and I went out for dinner with him to an Italian restaurant called Bell Blu yesterday. We had a lovely meal and then went back to my dad’s house to have some birthday cake. We ended up being there until as late as usual. We went straight to bed when we got in because we had a big day planned for today. 🙂
We got up somewhere around 7-7:30 and left the house to go pick up Joe and Chloe in Nottingham. After about 2 minutes of driving we came home because Lizz had forgotten some vouchers. We remembered everything this time and then went to get Joe and Chloe for real. When they got in Lizz drove for another hour or so and then we were at Alton Towers! 😀 It’s the second time I’ve been this year. The only problem was that it was raining. All day.
Joe suggested that Ripsaw should be our first ride to avoid the morning rush to the big rides. We watched the ride once, noted that everyone got absolutely soaking wet, and then went on it ourselves. As expected, we got wet. It was still fun though.
Lizz had the clever idea of taking the refillable flask that we bought for £5 last time we went and so we got free drinks all day. 🙂
Joe and I had a competition to grab leaves off trees while we were on the Runaway Mine Train. I high fived 3 people as the train was running through the station. One of them shouted ow pretty loud, but that’s probably because we were going really quickly.
In the queue for Spinball Whizzer I found a £10 note. 😀 I used it to buy pizza for Lizz and me and then gave the change (£1.04) to charity. 🙂
We walked around the park for a while trying to get to Duel and we stumbled upon a little lake with some of the biggest fish I’ve ever seen. It was so tempting to jump in and catch them! When I was looking at the fish I noticed something a little different. On closer inspection it turned out to be a crayfish! I went to pick it up, but it made a sudden movement so I jumped back quickly only to find it was gone. They’re pretty fast little beggars!
On the way home we got stuck in traffic on the M50 because of an accident on the M1. The hour and a half long journey ended up taking much closer to 4 hours. Lizz was not impressed!
When we finally got home we had enough time and energy to watch just over half of Superbad and then we came to bed at the early time of 21:30.
Back to work tomorrow. 🙁
I’ve been writing a few web pages for keeping track of term loan deposits in the library. I’ve decided to make it all nice and sparkly by using AJAX and all kinds of little things.
At about lunch time I decided to change the way that dates got entered, and it’s taken me until just now to fix all the little bugs it caused. It was very frustrating constantly refreshing and re-entering the same form information, but it’s a huge feeling of achievement to see it working. It’ll be cool to know people are using it all the time from now on. 🙂
