Jobs, Casshern

I was looking for some short term work yesterday. I must have tried about 10 different places and NONE of them had a single job going between them. I have quite a few more places in min, so it’s not too bad, but I have a bad feeling about them too because the work is very similar.

Craig and I rented a movie called Casshern from Blockbuster yesterday. I invited JonP over, but he left about half way through it after eating pizza and stuff. David arrived a few minutes later and watched the second half or so. It’s one of the most confusing movies I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Very cool effects and a nice musical selection help it out quite a lot, but it still seems like an amalgamation of several other movies and games.

For a start the whole movie beginning was heavily based on 1984. There were countries that were at war with each other. One of them was even named Eurasia. Most of the movie could be linked to Final Fantasy in one way or another, but that’s cool enough I suppose. Then parts of it also took after The Matrix, and also The Lord Of The Rings was a fairly heavy influence I think.

It’s kind of worth watching one day just for the effects, and if you want to read subtitles for 2 hours and 17 minutes and be utterly confused at the end. It was confusing that at one point of the movie it cuts to a clay animation of a guy with a giant head holding some blue fluffy bird-type creature and then it flies off into the sky, and the movie continues as if nothing had just happened.

Go watch it, you’ll see what I mean.
